(HOSPITALITY)
Architecture in its truest sense cannot exist without history and memory. This small hotel and restaurant project in BrijBhumi, Vrindavan (the land of Krishna) is an ode to that. With a deliberate attempt to blend the raw with the very smooth and use a distinctly bold Indian Color palate.

A double height volume in the building façade is clad with terracotta roof tiles & has a tree on the first floor along with sandstone shading devices for the harsh western sun. The visitor enters through a grand staircase with a true brick vault gateway into the hotel lobby. The lobby and all other spaces are tied together with a bold Indian white marble and Jaisalmer yellow chevron pattern.
The reception table is made out of red sandstone and Indian white marble. All door frames are also of stone & locally sourced from Sikandra.

HIGHLIGHTS.
TRUE BRICK VAULT, INDIAN STONE FLOORING, RATTAN VAULT CEILING, RED SANDSTONE SHADING DEVICES
The project tries to borrow from the very strong architectural context of Vrindavan such as the Gobind dev temple constructed by Raja Man Singh (During Akbars reign) & tries to localise and develop a region specific design language. It does that through indian stone cladding and flooring (sandstone, marble, Jaisalmer), suspended rattan vaults in the false ceiling against a background of deep holy vermillion.
Buildings throughout the world and especially those in the hospitality segment should not all look the same after all.
