A fitness Centre reinterpreted as an oasis of relaxation versus a fitness factory.
This is the first project that we did independently in collaboration with studio Ina & Matt, Antwerp, Belgium.
CREDITS.
In September 2006, this Health & Sports fitness center opened in Gurgaon, the first of a chain of centers to be located throughout India. The Indo-Dutch partnership that initiated the project commissioned a Dutch firm, Studio Ina & Matt, to design the complex, which was to occupy the ground floor of a new office building in the explosively growing commercial heart of Gurgaon. One of our first forays into
Interior Design, we were the local architects for this project.

The design brief was to create a space in which physical exertion and mental relaxation wellness and sport complement each other while creating an ambiance which is
more European than Indian. The design is a concept which attempts to bridge the ‘often enormous differences between wellness centers and fitness clubs’, an oasis of relaxation versus a fitness factory. Both of these were brought together in a playful space that invites guest to exercise.*
